Acupressure

Acupressure as Healing Science

Acupressure is know as the science of healing through natural process. Acupressure is based on the principle of acupoints activation across the meridians which correct the imbalance between Qi (energy).

It showed superior therapeutic potential against numerous disease conditions. Acupressure is the type of acupuncture. Both acupressure & acupuncture are based on same fundamental principle of acupoint activation across the meridians. In acupressure muscular tension is released by applying pressure with hand at specific acupoints or pressure of the thumbs on specific points or the application of the pressure to acupoints is used to balance flow of the physiological energy.

Meridians are the channels within human body which help to maintain Qi (energy) & thus. Each meridians is connected to various organs & tissues of human body. In acupressure, acupoint is the point closest to the surface of the skin & activation of acupoint is the prime step in acupressure. Location of each acupoint on specified meridians is determined in term of: Body Inch (BI) or Cun.

1 BI/cun = 1 thumb width at the base of the finger nail.

BI/Cun is known as acupressure unit of measurement (AUM).

Local points and Distal points are the two important acupoints, employed by the acuppressurist to treat the patients in routine clinical practice. In acupressure acupoints can be activated by elbow, fingers, feet, knuckles, palm, thumb or specific tools.
