Meridians are the channels within human body which help to maintain Qi (energy) & thus. Each meridians is connected to various organs & tissues of human body. In acupressure, acupoint is the point closest to the surface of the skin & activation of acupoint is the prime step in acupressure. Location of each acupoint on specified meridians is determined in term of: Body Inch (BI) or Cun.
1 BI/cun = 1 thumb width at the base of the finger nail.
BI/Cun is known as acupressure unit of measurement (AUM).
Local points and Distal points are the two important acupoints, employed by the acuppressurist to treat the patients in routine clinical practice. In acupressure acupoints can be activated by elbow, fingers, feet, knuckles, palm, thumb or specific tools.
